TokyoDex News: Friday 5/25, This&That Café Vol. 38 at SuperDeluxe!
Greetings from Tokyo where we are enjoying that “Sweet Spot” right between Spring and Summer.
And as it just so happens, that is the theme of our upcoming periodic signature event This&That Café. The 5/25 event celebrates our favorite time of year with an all-star cast that spans a wide range of expressions, from spring-inspired live flower arrangement, to the early-summer sounds of a surf-rock band.
This will be the last #TnTCafe until Autumn, so be sure not to miss it! Be sure to check out the vibe from the last #TnTCafe that took place in March when we celebrated international Women’s Day with an all female cast.
It is the perfect weather to visit the newly opened Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, where special Johnnie Walker “Striding Man” Art Figures are on display as part of the Hibiya Festival, on now through May 20.
TokyoDex called in two heavy hitters from out of town for this gig—Gunma’s own JONJON GREEN and Osaka-based simo to paint six 2-meter figures on display throughout the outdoor venue. This video shows a behind-the-scenes look at making-of these amazing works of art. (A bit of whisky was also enjoyed in the process! )
Thanks always for your support and hope to see you all soon!

Every year TokyoDex brings artists to Izu coast to do live painting at Rainbow Disco Club. This year we paired our good friends WHOLE9 with renowned illustrator Yuta Okumura to do a collaboration that truly embodied the good vibes and free spirit of the festival. Check out the photo gallery and video here.
Montblanc Black and White Weeks In April, Montblanc launched their new product line at their annual exhibition - Black & White Weeks, and TokyoDex was there to commemorate the occasion with a live performance by the three-man unit Curito.Curito is made up of painter Yohei Takahashi, VJ KIM and track maker Tonbo. Together, this inimitable trio bring live art to the next level, creating an audio-visual experience is difficult to describe in words. Luckily, we did capture it on video.
