December DexNews: Pullman Tokyo Tamachi & ibis Osaka Umeda
2018 was another great year for TokyoDex. We would like to extend our appreciation to all the people we had a chance to work with this year. In addition to various ground-breaking office-art projects, we also did our first hotel installations, one at Japan’s first Pullman Hotel, as well as at the newest member of the ibis family in Osaka. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2019!
Pullman Tokyo Tamachi
One of the largest hotel chains in the world, "Accor Hotels" opened the very first "Pullman” luxury hotel in Japan in October and TokyoDex was there. We brought in art unit Whole9 to do a live painting at the opening event and christen the very first "Pullman Art Nights" in Tokyo. The result was a true transformation of the Rooftop Bar-Platform 9 as one wall was covered with brightly colored marine creatures swimming through abstract patterns, bringing a dynamic stereoscopic effect to the entire room. Special thanks to Paradigm Digital Creative for making this happen! Stop by to have a drink and see this amazing artwork when you are in the Tamachi area!
ibis Osaka Umeda
”ibis”, also a part of the Accors Hotels global chain, opened a new hotel in Osaka this November and TokyoDex was there! Osaka-based art crew Whole9 joined us to create original work that captures Kansai culture and some of the city's most prominent monuments. Famous landmarks like the Tower of the Sun, Osaka Castle and the "Kaiyukan" aquarium are incorporated into a bold color scheme in the distinctive Whole9 style. Through this work, travelers can feel the energy of the city where traditional and urban cultures unite. Please stop by and check it out when you are in the area!
